Past

6/29/17 EDIT: Similar to how a large sum of Beatles songs were left off of the original core album catalog, a hefty handful of tracks were also left off of my alternate albums. Some of these tracks may have been on the original albums but taken off, or others may have simply been given no notice. So, rather than leave them in the dust as I move on towards other stuff, I thought it'd be appropriate to end my core alternate Beatles series with a collection of all of these unused tracks, appropriately using the Past Masters name. The tracks featured in this collection include the various b-sides and non-album tracks such as 'Thank You Girl', 'I'm Down', and 'The Ballad of John and Yoko' (one of my favorite late-Beatles tracks). Also included are the White Album tracks left off of my alternate A Doll's House album, these tracks being 'Wild Honey Pie', 'While My Guitar Gently Weeps' (Album version), 'Birthday', 'Revolution 1' (featuring sound effects heard on Take 20 of the track, all mixed in stereo. Really cool-sounding), 'Honey Pie', and the infamous 'Revolution 9' (featuring a lost overdub also heard on Take 20. At the part where Yoko says 'Maybe it's not that,' John is heard ominously yelling 'It IS that!'

Pretty funny actually!). And also heard here is an extended, four-minute version of 'Dig It'. The uncut version goes on for much, much longer than that, but that's just a little to much for me to dig! One other addition is the inclusion of the Anthology 2 remix of the track '12-Bar Original'. Years ago before the internet, rumors spread around between fans that the Beatles recorded an instrumental title-track during the sessions for Rubber Soul. Turns out that '12-Bar Original' was that instrumental. I can't stand the original, generic title, so I decided to keep the rumor alive by renaming the track 'Rubber Soul'.

I'm sure it was never the intention of the group to name the track as such, but I guess a little bit of fan service never hurts:) Also included is a fantastic fan-mix of what a finished version of 'Now and Then' could have sounded like. It's really unfortunate that the group didn't finish the track for Anthology 3, it would've sounded absolutely amazing! A big thank you to 'ThatOneBeatlesManiac' for the stereo remixes of 'Long Tall Sally', 'Slow Down', 'Matchbox', 'She's a Woman', 'Bad Boy', 'Act Naturally', 'Dizzy Miss Lizzy', 'If You've Got Trouble', 'I'm Down' and 'Old Brown Shoe'. I hope you enjoyed my alternate Beatles series. Even though I've had to shorten the length of these posts due to school, I've still been having a great time putting them together. After this, I'm gonna return to posting a lot more Beach Boys stuff, alongside with my alternate Monkees series thrown in there for good measure. Thanks for all the support, and look out for more stuff soon!
