Hey guys, so I know this has been up before, but I'm writing since I've tried some of the work arounds I saw on those threads and yet still Platinum Notes will randomly chop off the right side of a track about 1/4 of the way through. I was processing about 122 tracks the first time it happened, and I did have a few other programs in the background, so as suggested in one of the threads I re-processed all the tracks again this morning on a fresh boot up with no other programs running and I'm still encountering the issue on some tracks as I'm prepping them in Traktor. I have a MBPr with the 2.7Ghz i7 Processor, 16GB ram (so performance is definitely not an issue here), on Mountain Lion (all up to date). I'm wondering if you guys had any suggestions. I'll usually be batch processing in quantities of up to 100 or so tracks (whenever I sit down to acquire new music).

PN doesn't have an option to process less tracks at a time (my only suspicion being that since it processes several at a time, maybe it just goes hay wire on some of them). I appreciate any help you can give me and keep up the amazing work. Best, Oliver. No, but then again, they were processed individually at this point.

I have a hunch that this happens when you batch process a lot of files (since PN will process like 5-8+ files at once). What I'll do tomorrow is run some tests with the same files, some with small batches (10 or so) and a couple 100+ batches and see if I can find a pattern (i.e., if only the large batches have the problem, and if so, if they are repeated again and again in the batches since the problem doesn't seem to replicate itself when done individually). Let me know if there are any system error logs in OS X that I might be able to copy and send your way (not sure if this is possible).

There is a log that OS X writes that may or may not contain helpful info but it's worth taking a look at if you are even somewhat reliably able to reproduce this. Please go into the Applications/Utilities folder and launch the Console app after experiencing the problem in Platinum Notes. In the Console app, go to File -> Save a copy as. And save the log.

Send it to us (contact@mixedinkey.com) as an attachment and hopefully we will know more about what could be causing this problem for you. OK, so did a fresh process of the 122 files with the programs that open normally when I boot up (like iTunes, Messages, Notes, Reminders, Mail, and Calendar). Nothing crazy here, this would be a normal usage scenario so I leaved that as is, and just booted up fresh and started the process.

I cleared the log right before the processing, so it's mostly only what happened when PN was processing (but more on that later): Now, out of 122 files, 8 were messed up. I've included a PDF with pics of the waveforms in Adobe Audition for reference (it seems to affect both left and right channels (sometimes both at same time), and at random time intervals.

I then reprocessed these 8 files, and 1 of them came out wrong again, almost identical to the way it came out wrong the first time. I then reprocessed that file alone, and it was fine. Here is the waveform example for that particular file: Of not though, absolutely nothing in the Console Log, so there's nothing for me to send to you for that process, even though there was still an error. I'm going to try another run (this time with no other programs running from a fresh boot) and see if any of the same files are affected by any chance, and/or if the fail rate improves, and I'll send those over too.
